Grab your paleontology hats, friends! Today we’re traveling back in time — millions of years — to discover dinosaurs hiding right inside your own handmade excavation eggs.
This project is part sensory play, part science, and totally awesome fun for little explorers.
🌋 What You’ll Need:
- 1 cup of sand
- ½ cup of cornstarch
- About 2 tablespoons of water (add more or less until it’s moldable)
- Small toy dinosaurs 🦖
- A bowl for mixing
- Plastic egg mold (optional — or just shape by hand!)
🧪 How to Make Your Dino Eggs
Step 1: Mix Your Earthy Ingredients
In a bowl, combine your sand and cornstarch. Slowly add water and stir until it feels like wet sand that can hold its shape.
Step 2: Hide the Dinosaurs!
Grab a handful of the mixture and press a tiny dinosaur inside. Mold it into an egg shape using your hands or a plastic egg mold.
Step 3: Let It Dry
Place your dino eggs on a tray and leave them out to dry for about a day. Once they’re hard, they’re ready for excavation!
Step 4: Excavation Time!
Use a small hammer, paintbrush, or even a spoon to carefully chip away at the sandy shell. Keep digging until your prehistoric pal emerges!
