✨ Invitation to Play
Today we’re turning simple cotton pads into a soft, squishy version of our planet — and using droppers to bring it to life with color.
It’s part art, part science, part “can I do one more drop?”
(Spoiler: yes. Always yes.)
🧺 What You’ll Need
- Cotton pads
- Cardboard (cut into a circle if you want a “planet” base)
- Blue + green food coloring
- Water
- Droppers or pipettes
- Small cups or bowls
Optional but fun:
- Tray (for catching drips)
- A nearby Earth book for inspiration 🌍
🎨 Guided Experience
Start by placing your cotton pads onto the cardboard circle.
Layer them. Overlap them. Build your planet.
(It might already look a little like clouds… or marshmallows… Bug will probably try to eat one. Please don’t let them 😄)
Now mix your colors:
A little water + a few drops of food coloring.
Blue for oceans.
Green for land.
Hand over the droppers… and here’s where the magic begins.
Squeeze gently… and watch.
The color doesn’t just sit there — it spreads.
It moves.
It travels through the cotton like it has somewhere to be.
Drop by drop, your Earth starts to appear.
Some kids will go slow and careful.
Some will go FULL COLOR EXPLOSION.
Both are correct.
