The sun peeked over the golden hills as Babe and Bug hopped out of the car — boots crunching through a carpet of autumn leaves. The Pumpkin Festival had finally arrived, and they were ready for adventure! 🍂✨

Bug gasped dramatically, holding her arms wide. “I want that one!” — pointing at a pumpkin nearly as big as she was.
They started their day with a hayride that rattled and giggled its way around the farm. Babe loved watching how the tractor engine worked (“It converts fuel into energy through combustion!” she proudly explained), while Bug waved to every scarecrow they passed like old friends.
Next up: the corn maze! Babe led the way, determined to use logic and observation. Bug, on the other hand, used what she called her “pumpkin-powered instincts.” Somehow, Bug’s zigzagging chaos led them right to the exit — much to Babe’s scientific frustration and sisterly delight.
After that came caramel apples, warm cider, and the ultimate mission: finding their perfect pumpkins.
Babe chose a round, evenly colored one with a sturdy stem (“That means it’s healthy and strong!”).
Bug picked one with a funny bump on the side — “Because it looks like it’s smiling!” she said.
Before heading home, they stopped at the craft table and made pumpkin slime together. Sticky, glittery, and full of giggles, it was the perfect messy ending to a perfect day.
As the sky turned orange, Babe squeezed Bug’s hand.
“Science fact,” she said. “Pumpkins are 90% water — that’s why they grow so big!”
Bug smiled up at her sister. “Then we must be 90% awesome.”
