🎃 Welcome to the Lab (and the Creepy Kitchen Sink!)
Things are getting spooky (and splashy!) in the Curiosity Club Lab!
Babe & Bug are mixing science, sensory play, and fine motor fun with their 3-ingredient Spooky Water Experiment!
It’s ooey, gooey, mysterious—and the perfect hands-on Halloween activity for curious kids! 🕷️💜
🧪 You’ll Need:
- A large bin or clear container
- Cornstarch 🌽
- Water 💧
- Black food coloring 🖤
- Small Halloween toys (plastic spiders, bats, eyeballs, or ghosts!)
- Kitchen tools like tongs, strainers, spoons, or ladles 🥄
👻 How to Make “Spooky Water”:
- Mix It Up:
Fill your bin halfway with water. Add a few drops of black food coloring. - Sprinkle the Magic:
Gently sprinkle in cornstarch while stirring. Stop when the water looks cloudy, but not thick. - Add the Creepy Crawlies:
Drop in your small toys — watch them sink to the bottom like hidden treasures! - Start the Play:
Hand your kids tongs, spoons, or strainers to dig, scoop, and explore!
💡 Babe’s Science Fact:
“Cornstarch particles stay suspended in the water, scattering light and making it look cloudy—like fog in a witch’s cauldron!” 🌫️
😂 Bug’s Giggle Tip:
“Make spooky sounds while you play—like ‘blub-blub-boo!’” 👻💦
🌈 Learning Bonus:
This activity boosts fine motor skills, sensory exploration, and creativity.
Try using colored bins or glow-in-the-dark toys for an extra eerie twist!
